24 // The Inner Critic Series Part 2 – Befriend The Critic

Join us for the four-part series on the inner critic in our healing and recovery journey. In this episode, we discuss the third stage in the process, which is to befriend our own inner critic.

In the first episode, we got clear on what the inner critic was saying and how it was showing up.

Then in the second episode of this series, we set boundaries with the inner critic and work on self-compassion.

In this episode, we begin to welcome the critic back in and see what it has to say.

The three key words for befriending the critic are: allow, converse, listen, and reason.

The self-coaching questions for the at home exercise are:

  • What does this inner critic have to say?

  • What is it keeping me safe from?

  • What is it pushing me towards and why?

  • What is it holding high standards about and why?

  • It cares about something. What is that?

  • What is it wanting from me?

  • What is it ambitious about for me?
